A special thank you to Deborah Caplan, Executive VP of Human Resources and Corporate Services NextEra Energy Inc. and Florida Power and Light (FPL), for their tremendous $175,000 gift to the Urban League of Palm Beach County (ULPBC), at the 50th Anniversary EOD Gala.
$100,000 is going toward FPL STEM Programming and $75,000 to the mission and community activities of the ULPBC.
The FPL STEM Now (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) focuses on preparing local middle and high school students for enriching opportunities and enhanced academic progress while developing new skills in a fun and social environment.
FPL STEM Now! is evidence-based, using STEM-related experiments designed to keep students interested in the ever-evolving world of science and technology. Services and activities include STEM-related experiential learning, STEM-related career exploration, group mentorship, service learning opportunities, field trips, and monthly guest speakers.
