This program is for job seekers aged 55 and older residing in Broward and Miami.
Priority of service is provided to low-income seniors, veterans, disabled, and long-term unemployed. Program participants are placed in part-time community service training positions to enhance their skills, build their confidence, and rebuild their job history so they can transition to full or part-time employment.
Services/Activities
The program benefits both job seekers and employers in a variety of ways:
- Paid training
- Job placement assistance
- Case management and educational supportive services
Participation Requirements
- Age 55 or older
- Have previous work experience
- Fall into income guidelines
- Actively seeking employment
- Unemployed prior to entering the program
The National Urban League Urban Senior Jobs Program is ninety percent (90%) funded by the U.S Department of Labor. The total value of the grant is $15,427,242.32 of which $13,884,517.99 is federally funded and $1,542,724.33 (10%) is from non-federal funding.
