Urban League of Palm Beach County Continues to Make Strides in Our Economic and Housing Empowerment Programs

The Urban League of Palm Beach County continues to make strides in helping individuals and families improve their economics and housing options.

Here’s recent highlights from our economic and housing empowerment programs:

– 23 individuals attended our virtual homebuyer and financial education workshops during May to learn about steps towards homeownership, money management, and credit. Thanks to our community partners: Capital Partners Mortgage Services, Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Office, Legal Aid Palm Beach County, Community Land Trust of PBC, and the Treasure Coast and others for volunteering their time to educate our clients.

– 20 families received individualized housing counseling and financial coaching for pre-purchase/homebuying, resolving, or preventing mortgage delinquency or default. The primary focus was to assist them with mortgage readiness, foreclosure avoidance, improving credit scores, raising income, increasing saving, and reducing debt.

– Entrepreneurship Centre (EC): The EC had a very successful year. To date we have earned 95% of our contract of $333,333. Small minority owned businesses have benefited from our services including small business workshops, and individualized trainings.
