This program is for job seekers age 55 and older residing in Broward and Miami only.
Priority of service is provided to low income seniors, veterans, disabled and long-term unemployed. Program participants are placed in part-time community service training positions to enhance their skills, build their confidence, rebuild their job history, so they can transition to full or part-time employment.
Services/Activities
The program benefits both job seekers and employers in a variety of ways:
Paid training
Job placement assistance
Case management and education supportive services
Target population and participation requirements
Age 55 or older
Have previous work experience
Fall into income guidelines
Actively seeking employment
Unemployed prior to entering the program
The National Urban League Urban Senior Jobs Program is ninety percent (90%) funded by the U.S Department of Labor. The total value of the grant is $15,427,242.32 of which $13,884,517.99 is federally funded and $1,542,724.33 (10%) is from non-federal funding.
