Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Winsome McIntosh Donates $50,000 to Urban League of Palm Beach County Foundation

As part of our 50th Anniversary EOD Gala, the Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Winsome McIntosh, donated $50,000 to the Urban League of Palm Beach County Foundation.

Winsome and her late husband Michael McIntosh, as well as a group of concerned citizens, were responsible for establishing the West Palm Beach affiliate. 

Winsome McIntosh has over 40 years of experience in the philanthropic community. She has served on the board of the McIntosh Foundation since 1972, while actively participating in its management. She is a founder of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Florida; ClientEarth (UK/EU); Rachel’s Network, US; and the Association of Small Foundations (Exponent Philanthropy). She was ClientEarth’s founding chair and served in that role until November 2018.

She has also served on the boards of a number of not-for-profits corporations (both local and national) including the League of Conservation Voters (Emeritus), Defenders of Wildlife (former Chairman), The Boat Company (presently Chair), the Garden Club of Palm Beach (former President), Alliance for Justice (former Vice-Chair), the Kappa Delta Foundation, and She Should Run Foundation.

In the for-profit community, she has served on the boards of American Legal Systems, Mo-DV, and Island National Bank and Trust Company.

She is the recipient of many awards for civic achievement including the Margaret Douglas medal of Achievement (Garden Club of America), the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award, the Florida State University Achievement medal, Founders Award/Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Founders Award from Exponent Philanthropy, the Women’s eNews 21 Leaders for the 21st Century, and Founders Award from Exponent Philanthropy.

She has written numerous articles on aspects of non-profit management and has spoken on the topic of Foundation management for workshops and conferences. Following a career as a philanthropic consultant, she founded Rachel’s Network, a membership organization of leading women funders for the environment, and served as its first President for its initial 10 years.

Recently, Winsome has been devoting considerable time to ClientEarth (UK/EU), the first public interest law firm for the environment in Europe founded by the McIntosh Foundation.
