The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation has awarded the Urban League of Palm Beach County (ULPBC) a $250,000 grant to help fund a two-year Urban Tech Jobs (UTJP) 2.0. Program.
UTJP prepares young adults who are unemployed and underemployed with training for middle-skill jobs in the information technology sector through exploration, education and technical training.
As part of the program, computer classes will be offered on Tech Career Tracks, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Programming, UAS Drone Tech, and CLOUD Computing.
ULPBC is planning to enroll 80 people who are 18 years or older, authorized to work in US, and have a high school diploma or an equivalent or higher degree.
Participants should have a STEM academic background, possess math/reading TABE scores at 11th grade or higher, be proficient in the English language, and show an interest in technology.
The UTJP 2.0 program also includes an assessment, job readiness and resiliency training, certification or license bearing trainings, and tech-based employment and best practices assistance.
