Spotlight on National Achievers Society Member: Petunie Thegenus
Since elementary school, Petunie Thegenus has been a National Achievers Society (NAS) member at the Urban League of Palm Beach County.
Last year, she was selected for the College Board National African American Recognition Program as a result of her performance on her PSAT and AP exams.
Although she does not envision herself having a professional music career, she takes private lessons at the Palm Beach Atlantic University Preparatory Academy.
Additionally, Petunie has had a 4.96 weighted grade point average while participating in the International Baccalaureate program at Suncoast High School.
NAS recognizes students for their academic achievements and prepares them for post-secondary education.
The program focuses on encouraging, recognizing and reinforcing academic achievement among minority youth to counter pervasive and damaging public images of African-American youth in our society.
