Volunteer Information

Greetings Urban League of Palm Beach County Ambassadors:

The Urban League of Palm Beach County (ULPBC) and its Community Partners created a Get Out to Vote Initiative. We are providing bus rides to the polls from October 19th – November 3rd from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm daily for low income communities in Palm Beach County. The ULPBC needs your assistance to make this effort successful. We are looking for organizations and or individuals to staff buses, polling sites and pick-up and drop off locations.  Please see details below: 

All ULPBC Ambassadors must attend (1) Volunteer Training via Zoom

Volunteer Orientations:

Friday, October 16, 2020
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Saturday, October 17, 2020
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Saturday, October 24, 2020
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Ambassador Positions:

  • Volunteer Captains:
    • Manage the volunteers in the various polling locations and or cities  
    • Check-in volunteers (Ambassador list will be provided by ULPBC)
    • Captains may need to assist with taking temperatures prior to riders boarding the bus
    • Answer any questions riders may have regarding riding schedule or voting information. If anyone has questions, or are looking for guidance on the candidates on the ballot please refer them to the voting guide which they will receive on board the bus.  We will also have voting guides available at each polling site. IMPORTANT: The Urban League of Palm Beach County is a non-partisan organization. Volunteers shall in no way seek to influence voter’s decisions.
    • Ice chests will be placed on every bus, polling locations and pick-up and drop-off sites. Please make sure they are replenished with snacks and beverages daily
  • Bus Greeters:
    • Check-in daily with your Volunteer Captain
    • Greet riders as they board buses and provide them with information (see information that will be distributed to the riders below
    • Take riders temperature prior to them boarding the bus
    • Make sure riders are wearing a mask before they board the bus. Each bus will have a supply of masks in case someone shows up without one
    • Maximum number of passengers allowed on each bus is 30
    • Distribute gift bags to riders and sign them in. A sign-in sheet will be provided
    • Answer any questions riders may have regarding riding schedule or voting information. If riders have questions, or are looking for guidance on the candidates on the ballot please refer them to the voting guide located inside of their gift bag.   • Polling Site Greeters:
    • Check-in daily with your Volunteer Captain
    • Assist PBC residents with questions regarding riding schedule or voting information

  • Pick-Up and Drop-Off Greeters:
    • Check-in daily with your Volunteer Captain
    • Answer any questions aboard the buses
    • Pick-up greeters may need to assist with taking temperatures prior to riders boarding the bus
    • Assist PBC residents with questions regarding riding schedule or voting information.  If anyone has questions, or are looking for guidance on the candidates on the ballot please refer them to the voting guide located inside of their gift bag. Ambassador Shifts:

  • 9:45 am – 12:00 pm
  • 11:45 am – 3:00 pm
  • 2:45 am – 6:00 pm

Ambassador Provisions/Guideline:

  • ORG T-shirt
  • PPE face masks and hand sanitizer
  • Snacks and beverages provided at all volunteer locations
  • Volunteer Captains please meet at the ULPBC Headquarters at 9:30am to check-in and board the bus for your location, except for the Belle Glade Branch Library and SOE Glades Branch Office
  • Check-in with your Volunteer Captain upon arrival at shift

Note: Ambassador T-shirts will be distributed the first day of your shift. Please where khaki pants, shorts, or skirt.
