It was the Urban League of Palm Beach County’s biggest event ever at our West Palm Beach office – 1,080 boxes of food were given out during our first drive-thru food drive on Saturday, June 27 to help Palm Beach County families struggling in the coronavirus pandemic.
The food drive was sponsored by Feeding South Florida, Scripps Howard Foundation, Comerica Bank, WPTV NewsChannel 5, and other individual donors.
Each family received a free bag of PPE’s (hand sanitizers and face mask). Special thanks to Oxygen Development for donated 10,000 units of hand sanitizer. And special thanks to Florida Counts, LOWES and the State of Florida / FEMA for donating the face masks.
Each family also got free supplies of food. Special thanks to Feeding South Florida for delivering a full-tractor trailer (53’) filled with milk, eggs, butter, potatoes, oranges, grapefruits, apples, raisins, pork and fish. And special thanks to Urban League of Palm Beach County supporters whose donations allowed us to purchase grits, oatmeal, mac and cheese, can corn, can beans, peanut butter and jelly, and mash potatoes.
