UYEP WORKS

Are you currently, or were you previously, incarcerated in the adult criminal or juvenile justice systems? Are you a high school dropout? Are you worried about how you will find a good job with a criminal record or without a high school degree? If  you  answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions,  Urban League of Palm Beach County is here to help you!

The Urban Youth Empowerment Program WORKS (UYEP WORKS) aims to help people like you, increase their education, skills, and find a job. You will also have a chance to give back to your community. As a participant, you may also receive:

  • Hands-on work experience and access to employers
  • GED instruction, study materials, and test vouchers
  • Job placement assistance and follow-up services
  • Access to legal advisers, mentors, and tutors
  • Stipends  for participation in select activities

 

UYEP WORKS is available free of charge to people who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Are between the ages of 18 to 24
  • Currently or previously involved in the adult criminal or  juvenile justice systems or is a high school dropout
  • Currently live in areas served by the Urban League
  • Demonstrate interest in UYEP WORKS activities
  • Veterans have priority enrollment

 

Once you are admitted to the program, you will be required to participate in workforce development activities, education and training, case management, mentoring, restorative justice, and community-wide efforts to reduce violence and crime.

As a UYEP WORKS participant, you will receive comprehensive  services delivered by dedicated instructors and coaches, including:

  • Stipends for participation in select activities
  • Hands-on work experience and access to employers
  • GED instruction, study materials, and test vouchers
  • Job placement assistance
  • Access to apprenticeships and training providers
  • College and financial aid information
  • Personalized financial planning services and counseling
  • Access to legal advisers, mentors, case managers, and tutors
